Tom was a proud graduate of the University of Kansas. (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!) And because of Tom’s belief in the power of the written word, he asked that we create a scholarship in his name. A scholarship that honors writing that creates a positive impact in communities and society. Tom’s long-held belief was that this writing could take the form of the great American novel, justice-seeking journalism or the writing of grants for cancer research and other worthy causes.

A scholarship will be awarded annually. Preference shall be given to students who exhibit exceptional writing skills that inspire, positively influence, and create positive outcomes within their studies, research or projects.
